Mrs. Frank-O’Connell was born in Colorado Springs and raised in a suburb of Denver. She spent her undergraduate and graduate years on the western slope of Colorado. Jamie has worked as a professional counselor in schools, mental health clinics, and hospitals since 1995. In 2000 she moved to Central New York, where she worked in a prevention and mental health clinic in and out of public schools until 2005. At that time, Mrs. Frank-O’Connell and her family moved to Summerville. Jamie has worked in Berkeley and Dorchester Two school districts. The last eight years Mrs. Frank-O’Connell served as Oakbrook Middle School’s counseling director and 6th grade counselor.
Jamie lives with her husband, John, their children, Olivia & Luke, and their fur-babies, Rowan & Fergie. During free time Jamie writes children’s books, runs, and practices yoga. John enjoys lawn & garden projects, golf, and manages the technical end of their book company, officially established in 2016. Olivia and Luke stay busy reading, watching movies, and playing with friends. Olivia enjoys dancing and writing, while Luke is a competitive mathematician who loves basketball and football.
Mrs. Frank-O’Connell loves being a middle school counselor. She is an active member of the American School Counseling Association, Society of Children’s Book Writers, and Illustrators, and a certified children’s yoga instructor, all of which help her meet the needs of her students. Jamie intends to build a best-practice, student-centered, counseling program serving the distinctive social, emotional, and academic needs of the Palmetto Scholars Academy middle school students.
