Jamie Frank-O'Connell, Counseling Director and Middle School Counselor
Jamie Frank-O’Connell has worked as a professional counselor in various clinical and educational settings since 1997. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western State University in Colorado where she majored in Clinical Psychology and a minored in Pre-law. Mrs. Frank-O’Connell earned a Master of Arts degree from Regis University, Colorado, and her Professional School Counseling Certification from Adam’s State University. Jamie has lived and worked in Colorado, New York, and South Carolina; her first year at PSA was in 2017. Mrs. Frank-O’Connell is constantly learning and maintains memberships with The American School Counseling Association, The Palmetto State School Counseling Association, The South Carolina School Counseling Association, The Society of Children’s Book Writers, and Illustrators, and The Yoga Alliance. Mrs. Frank-O’Connell’s various interests & pursuits allow her to serve her students from an open, broad perspective.
Shawn Davis, High School Counselor
Mrs. Davis grew up in the Charleston/Summerville area. She graduated from Summerville High School, obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the College of Charleston, and earned her Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Webster University. She holds a South Carolina Professional Certificate in Secondary School Counseling. Mrs. Davis started her professional school counseling career in Charleston County School District as a high school & career counselor. She has spent the last 17 years working at Oakbrook Middle School as a middle school counselor and program director. Mrs. Davis lives in Summerville with her husband, Sebastian, and their two children, Ayden and Ashlyn. Ayden is a 7th grader at PSA and Ashlyn is in the 2nd grade in Dorchester District II. During her spare time, Mrs. Davis enjoys reading, decorating, sewing (including a bit of quilting), trying new recipes and spending quality time with her family. Mrs. Davis enjoys supporting her student’s social & emotional development, academic success, and college and career readiness efforts. Mrs. Davis is a professional member of the American School Counselor Association and the Palmetto State School Counselor Association. She is excited to be a part of the Palmetto Scholars Academy family, as of fall 2020, and is looks forward to working with the PSA students, teachers, staff, and parents!
Michael Finkley, Capstone Coordinator and Senior Advisor
Michael D. Finkley has been in higher and secondary education for the past 10 years. Mr. Finkley holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature from Allen University of Columbia, SC, a Masters of Education in Educational Studies k-12, and a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration from Southern New Hampshire University of Manchester, New Hampshire. Finkley is also a certified Global Career Development Facilitator and a graduate of the Leadership Enrichment and Development Program hosted by the South Carolina Department of Education. In his spare time, Finkley loves to spend time with family, sing, and continuously learn the craft of College Readiness. He is truly excited to be helping and guiding the students of Palmetto Scholars Academy.
