Instructional Materials Challenge Procedures

Instructional Materials Challenge Procedures

Palmetto Scholars Academy provides parents and guardians with a formal process to raise concerns regarding instructional materials used by the school. The process follows a structure similar to PSA’s grievance procedure, with an additional initial step specific to instructional materials.

Each step of the process must be completed in order. If a step is skipped, the parent or guardian will be referred back to the appropriate step before proceeding.

Step 1: Submit a Concern
The parent or guardian must complete the PSA Creative Content Question Form.

Step 2: Administrative Review
A member of the school administration, either the Middle School Assistant Principal or High School Assistant Principal, will contact the parent or guardian within three (3) school days to discuss the concern.

Step 3: Appeal to the Principal
If the parent or guardian disagrees with the Assistant Principal’s decision, the decision may be appealed to the Principal in accordance with PSA’s grievance policy.

Step 4: Appeal to the PSA Board of Directors
If the parent or guardian wishes to pursue the matter further, a grievance may be filed with the PSA Board of Directors in accordance with PSA’s grievance policy.
